Every child deserves a healthy life.
We believe every child has a right to healthcare, regardless of insurance status or country of origin.
Georgia is home to more than 70,000 children born outside the United States. Immigrant families are vital to our communities and to Georgia’s economy. Yet, many immigrant families struggle to obtain the healthcare their children need to grow and develop to their fullest potential.
Newly arriving families often face financial, cultural, and practical barriers to accessing healthcare. Unlike many other states, children in Georgia who are documented asylum seekers or lawful permanent residents must wait five years before becoming eligible to apply to Medicaid. We believe that every child—whether born here or recently calling Georgia home- should be able to access high quality healthcare.
